For those who keep these kind of records, our last Ruby-throated Hummingbird left last Saturday, October 20. He was a little immature male who for more than a week had the feeders to himself and seemed to enjoy the peace and being able to drink all he wanted. The five remaining Rose-breasted Grosbeaks all left Thursday night, October 18. For over a week now we've had the most exquisitely marked little Lincoln Sparrow we've even seen. It has all the beautiful chest and stomach streaks of an immature but has gotten the beautiful creamy handlebar mustache of an adult (I know it is called the malar but that seems too stilted to describe this beauty). He has been joined by at least five White-throated Sparrows and several Songs.
