[TN-Bird] Re: Cross-species Parenting

I'll be very curious how long this keeps up, whether the wrens will
stop tolerating the intrusion or the phoebe's instincts will redirect
them to make another nesting attempt of their own, or if the wren
chicks will grow up with two mommies AND two daddies? I took some
video of the nestlings being attended by two different species; I'll
post it online later when I have a chance to edit it. The original
nests were only about 8 feet apart, by the way.

I'm reminded of my first year birding back in Atlanta in 1974 when
there was a famous Rufous-sided Towhee (as it was known then --
Eastern Towhee now of course) that sang a perfect Carolina Wren song;
perhaps he was a product of a multi-species family as well?
