For those that want to keep up with the Whooping Crane reintroduction, = the tentative date for lift-off of this year's ultralight led flock of = Whooping Cranes is October 8th. Of course, weather will be a major factor in determining take-off, as well as the rest of the flight schedule. Nonetheless, the time is drawing near. The Sandhill Cranes have started migrating as well. A handful has started to trickle in at the = Jasper-Pulaski Refuge in Indiana. They should start arriving in significant numbers at Hiwassee Refuge by late November, although the early date out there is October first, so you never know!
