Today, Sunday, November 1, 2009, I birded Cove Lake State Park, Campbell County, TN starting around noon. Had my FOS Red-Breasted Nuthatch. Counted 48 Gadwalls and 13 Pied Billed Grebes; it's always nice when the grebes outnumber the Mallards (11); and 6+ Wood Ducks on the far side of the lake. Yellow-rumped Warblers and Song Sparrows were in good supply and a lone Cedar Waxwing was the first I've seen anywhere in a while. If you plan to go to Cove Lake I suggest you wear your boots or overshoes as it's pretty wet in places. The little birds sure do enjoy all the puddles.
