It was a lovely fall day for birding along the lake at Cove Lake State Park in Campbell County today. The Gadwalls and Coots have arrived and Yellow-rumped Warblers were everywhere. I had two close looks at my first Brown Creeper of the fall in the area around the last parking lot and it was interesting to compare a Song Sparrow and a Swamp Sparrow perched just inches apart in the marshy area near the little bridge. 29 species Canada Goose 40 Gadwall 18 Mallard 6 Pied-billed Grebe 4 Double-crested Cormorant 3 Great Blue Heron 4 Osprey 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 American Coot 14 Rock Pigeon 30 Belted Kingfisher 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 2 Downy Woodpecker 2 Blue Jay 5 American Crow 8 Carolina Chickadee 3 Tufted Titmouse 4 White-breasted Nuthatch 2 Brown Creeper 1 Carolina Wren 6 Eastern Bluebird 1 American Robin 2 Gray Catbird 1 Cedar Waxwing 6 Yellow-rumped Warbler 25 Eastern Towhee 3 Song Sparrow 1 Swamp Sparrow 1 House Finch 1 This report was generated automatically by eBird v3 (http://ebird.org) Carole Gobert, Knoxville
