At about 1:30 PM today (May 20), I heard a Connecticut Warbler singing near Norris, Anderson County. The bird was alongside US 441 about half a mile north of the junction of 441 and TN 61 in thick brush along a roadside ditch at the edge of a forested area and a very large mowed lawn. I was biking when I heard the bird and stopped and listened for it for a couple minutes (I was glad to stop as I was climbing a short steep hill at the end of a hard ride). I heard it sing at least a couple dozen times before I pedaled on. I also had a couple Scarlet Tanagers and a couple Red-eyed Vireos singing around my house today. Neither of these birds normally nests close to the house so I presume they are still migrating.
