Congratulations to Melinda Welton, Chris Sloan, Jan Shaw,
Cyndi Routledge, Vickie Henderson and others who played
major leadership roles considering the proposal to hunt
Sandhill Cranes in Tennessee.
We appreciate the many long hours and efforts as well
as we thank those who were able to be present at the TWRC
meetings in Nashville during the past two days. We also
extend our appreciations to those who responded by
contacting commissioners, TWRA, voting on the website
and being responsible birders and conservationists. We
also thank our birder/hunters who have participated
as well as the many hunters across the state
who did not support an immediate hunting season or any
hunting season at all -- whichever.

The two-year delay to consider a hunting season is one
of the greatest accomplishments folks of the Tennessee
Ornithological Society and TN-Birds Net have made. It is
a wonderful supporting effort for the Tennessee Wildlife
Resources Agency.

Now the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has a
significant opportunity for best management of the cranes.

This is an enormous accomplishment for the greater interest
of the wildlife resources of Tennessee.

It is a time to say thank you to everyone, including
TWRA and TWRC, for their good judgment and
good effort on behalf of the cranes and wildlife management
in Tennessee.

It was a win-win day for all.
