From the dam, 208 COMMON LOONS seen this noon.
It's not unusual to total 200+ Com. Loons on a winter visit to Priest Lake,
but I think this is the most I've seen at one time, in one area so far this
year. Out from the dam 168 loons grouped and lined in the center of the
lake, possibly because of increased boat traffic herding them to the
center. Plus 40 more spread across the area closer to the dam. No other
loon species detected. Otherwise water bird numbers seemed to have dropped
on Priest, still a moderate variety around.
