[tn-bird] Cocke County-Greene County-Jefferson County birds (and butterflies)

Yesterday (August 31) I spent quite a bit of time in the field,
primarily in the Weaver's Bend area of Cocke County early in the day and
at Rankin Bottoms and nearby areas in the evening.  The Rankin trip was
a scheduled event for the Greeneville Chapter of TOS.  Other members
(and one guest) from Greeneville included Jeanne Driese, Jim Holt, Ron
Lapp, Rose Lapp, Alice Loftin, Eleanor Mosca, and Linda Northrop.  James
Brooks from Jonesborough joined us briefly at Rankin.  Here's a summary
of the day's highlights:

at Weaver's Bend--

BALD EAGLE (adult);
Wild Turkey (3);
Empidonax species (using plumage characters, eye ring, bill length,
overall length, and overall size, I was able to narrow it to either
Willow or Alder);

at the boat ramp on the French Broad River near the intersection of
Highway 25/70 and Brush Creek Road--

Blue-headed Vireo;
Red-eyed Vireo;
Black-throated Green Warbler (adult female or first-fall male);
CERULEAN WARBLER (adult female);
Worm-eating Warbler;
Canada Warbler (adult female or first-fall male);
NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH;

in southern Greene County--

Spotted Sandpiper (on farm pond on West Allen's Bridge Road);
WESTERN SANDPIPER (8 on farm pond on West Allen's Bridge Road);
Red-shouldered Hawk (immature on Highway 107 near Cocke County line);
Red-headed Woodpecker (on Fillers Mill Road);

at Rankin Bottoms and nearby Douglas Lake (Cocke and Jefferson
Counties)--

Double-crested Cormorant (52);
Great Egret (37);
SNOWY EGRET (juvenile at Rankin Bottoms);
Cattle Egret (at Rankin Bottoms);
Blue-winged Teal (4 at Rankin Bottoms);
Osprey (Douglas Lake);
Semipalmated Plover (2 on Douglas Lake);
AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVER (2 at Rankin Bottoms);
Lesser Yellowlegs (10 at Rankin Bottoms);
Solitary Sandpiper;
Spotted Sandpiper;
Least Sandpiper (4);
Semipalmated Sandpiper (2 on Douglas Lake);
Pectoral Sandpiper (Douglas Lake);
dowitcher species (4 on Douglas Lake);
White-eyed Vireo (at Rankin Bottoms);
Red-eyed Vireo (at Rankin Bottoms);

Butterflies (Cocke and Greene Counties, mostly observed at Weaver's Bend
and Rankin Bottoms)--

Pipevine Swallowtail;
Spicebush Swallowtail;
Black Swallowtail (Rankin Bottoms);
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail;
Checkered White;
Clouded Sulphur;
Orange Sulphur;
Cloudless Sulphur;
Red-banded Hairstreak (Weaver's Bend);

Eastern Tailed-Blue;
Gulf Fritillary (Weaver's Bend);
