10/7/06 Henry Co. I spent a couple of hours this morning in the area where the Clay-colored has been seen, with no luck. However, there were a lot of birds working in the area, and getting looks at the sparrows was pretty tough today. A few Palm Warblers are still in the area, but today there were more Chipping Sparrows than anything else. Nothing I saw today looked like the Clay-colored, but there were enough birds around that I could have easily missed it. Sparrows are definitely in, today I had Lincoln's, Savannah, Chipping, Field, and singles of White-throated, White-crowned, Vesper, and Swamp. The ragweed wasn't hopping with birds like it was yesterday, and I didn't see or hear a single Rose-breasted Grosbeak, where there were at least a dozen yesterday. I will likely try for the Clay-colored one more time in the morning. Good Birding!!
