Rob et al., The "Atlas of the Breeding Birds of Tenn." shows records of Chuck-wills-widows in every county east of Knoxville except for Johnson & Unicoi Cos. I guess the map in the new National Geographic field guide is just another example of imprecise mapping, which must be very difficult to do on the continental scale. I looked in the newest National Geographic birdguide (and its gigantus companion) and according to their maps, the Chuck-Wills-Widow range pretty much stops west of Knoxville in East Tennessee. I think it would be neat to list everybody's favorite Chuck haunt to see just how many areas we have in East Tennessee, east of Knoxville. I know of this area which supports a couple of different places to hear Chucks and have heard them there for years. I never realized their distribution was so low East of Knoxville in Tennessee. > > Rob Biller > Elizabethton, TN > > > > > =================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBER===================== > > The TN-Bird Net requires you to SIGN YOUR MESSAGE with > first and last name, CITY (TOWN) and state abbreviation. > You are also required to list the COUNTY in which the birds > you report were seen.
