Portland, TN

Sumner County

According to three field guides I referenced (Sibley, Peterson and
Tekeila), it is unusual to see Chipping Sparrows in my area
(approximately 8 miles south of the Kentucky line) this time of year;
however, I had one on the ground beneath my sunflower feeder at least
twice on Saturday 12/13 along with one Fox Sparrow, 8-10 White-throated
Sparrows, two female Purple Finches, and many American Goldfinches,
Northern Cardinals, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Mourning Doves
and House Finches.

Also of note seen:

2 male Eastern Towhees

1 Red-winged Blackbird on the sunflower feeder

2 Yellow-rumped Warblers

1 Cedar Waxwing flew into the Poplar tree and sat for several minutes
before taking off again

62 Wild Turkeys gathered on the east side of the house.

6 Field Sparrows

Heard, but not seen - Pine Siskins.
