Kevin Calhoun, Dan Jacobson and Gary Brunvoll birded Chester Frost today and
saw 1 Caspian Tern and 48 Black Terns. They also saw a large flock of
Blue-winged Teal.
Later they birded the VW wetland where they saw Olive-sided Flycatcher,
Least Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpiper, and Solitary Sandpiper.
This afternoon when the rain subsided, I birded Nickajack Dam and saw 46
Black Terns and 2 Forster's Terns. Twenty minutes later, there were 32
Black Terns. Then there were six Black Terns. I drove to the area of
Marion county park where I saw 102 Black Terns and one Forster's Tern.
Clouds were still dark and heavy when I left the lake.
