This is Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the
Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.
This is Update Number #9 made on April 13, 2004.

More and more spring migrants are arriving!
Here are some first dates for our area since 4/8:
KING RAIL - 4/8 - Standifer Gap marsh; heard again on 4/12 (David Patterson)
LITTLE BLUE HERON - 4/8 - Brainard Levee; seen again on 4/9; not present on
4/11. (Harold Birch)
SOLITARY SANDPIPER - 4/11- Brainard Levee. (Dan Jacobson, Judy Newsome)
GREAT-CRESTED FLYCATCHER - 4/12- Ooltewah/ (Libby Wolfe)
EASTERN KINGBIRD - 4/11- Cravens House; 8 were present at Standifer Gap
marsh later in the day. (Dan Jacobson)
YELLOW-THROATED VIREO - 4/9 - North Chickamauga Creek greenway. (Dan
Jacobson)
RED-EYED VIREO - 4/9- North Chickamauga greenway. (Dan Jacobson)
WORM-EATING WARBLER - 4/9 - Cravens House (Harold Birch)
OVENBIRD- 4/12- Cravens House. (Kevin Calhoon)
BLACKPOLL WARBLER - 4/12- Ooltewah. May be the earliest date ever for
Southeastern TN! If you know of an earlier record, let me know (Libby Wolfe)
SCARLET TANAGER - 4/10- North Chickamauga greenway. (David Aborn)
INDIGO BUNTING - 4/8- Ooltewah. (Libby Wolfe)
A Snow Goose was present at the pond at Camp Jordan on 4/8, and was seen
again on 4/10. (Janice Chadwell)
The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on May 13
7:00 PM at Accension Luthern Church, 720 South Germantown Rd.
