[TN-Bird] Chattanooga RBA #6

This is  Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the
Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.
 
This is Update Number #6 made on March 16, 2004.

The WHITE-WINGED SCOTER that Judy Newsome first found on the evening of
January 30 above (north side parking lot)
Chickamauga Dam in Hamilton co. has been seen off and on ever since, with
the last sighting on Sat. March 13 above the dam. (Dan Jacobson)

Spring migrants are beginning to arrive!

The first report of Pectoral Sandpiper with 2 came from the Brainerd Levee
along with a Dunlin on March 13.  (Kevin Calhoon)
Three Pectoral Sandpipers were present at the levee on March 15 along with 1
Barn Swallow, 3 Tree Swallows and 6 Northern Rough-winged Swallow. (Kevin

The first report of Cliff Swallow, Northern rough-winged Swallow, and Barn
Swallow came from above Nickajack Dam in Marion county on March 13. Also
Tree Swallow and Purple Martins were present. (Dan Jacobson, John Henderson)

Two Blue-headed Vireos were singing about three miles in on the upper trail
at the Bowater Pocket Wilderness in the North Chickamauge Creek gorge in
Hamilton co. on March 14. (Kevin Calhoon)

It is possible that the Peregrines have a nest somewhere on the south tower
on the trestle below Chickamauga Dam.  Keep your eyes open for behavior that
might help us figure out what is going on with them.  (Harold Sharpe)
