You have reached Kevin Calhoon with the Chattanooga RBA, sponsored by the
Chattanooga Chapter of the Tennessee Ornithological Society.
This is Update Number #4 made on February 22, 2003.
Redheads remain in our area with 9 at the Brainerd Levee on February 9 (Joel
Keebler, Troy Ettel) and two at the levee on February 19 (Betty Wampler).
Some of the highlights of the TOS fieldtrip to the Brainerd Levee on
February 16 included: 72 Sandhill Cranes, 3 Hooded Mergansers, the first
Blue-winged Teal of the season, the first two Tree Swallows of the season as
well as 9 Palm Warblers and one Rusty Blackbird. (David Patterson)
One Virginia Rail was seen at the Standifer Gap Marsh on February 19. (David
Patterson)
A Merlin was seen from the crane observation area at Blythe Ferry in Meigs
county at the Cherokee Sandhill Crane days on February 8. (Jimmy Wilkerson)
The next general meeting of the Chattanooga TOS will be on March 13

PM at the Accension Luthern Church 720 South Germantown Road.
