Hamilton County, TN
As part of the Reflection Riding Arboretum and Nature Center's Migratory Bird
Day celebration, I banded up there. I set up 4 nets which were run from 7:30 AM
until 2:00 PM. Despite windy conditions (steady 15 mph with gusts up to 25
mph), I and former grad student Laura Marsh still managed to catch 17 birds.
Northern Cardinal = 9
Carolina Wren = 2
Swainson's Thrush (FOS) = 1
Indigo Bunting = 1
White-eyed Vireo = 1
Kentucky Warbler (FOS) = 1
Eastern Phoebe = 1
Tufted Titmouse = 1
There were also a lot of other migrants around, including my FOS Tennessee
Warblers. Kevin Calhoon will be posting the complete results from the Hamilton
County Migratory Bird Count as soon as he compiles it.
