Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN 7/8/07
Nine Chattanooga area birders waded and hiked Standifer Gap Marsh.
We saw and/or heard 53 species, listed at the end of this posting, including:

Virginia Rail 1
Great Horned Owl 1
Willow Flycatcher 2
Marsh Wren 2
Black-and-white Warbler 1

Willow Flycatchers nested at the marsh in 2004 about 50 feet south and 20 feet
west of the culvert in the gravel road, and again 2005 about 150 feet south and
200 feet west, near the edge of the water, both times about head height. The
two today were a few feet south from the green dock, around the south end of
the water, north along the water's edge to the last isolated willow and ash
trees.
