Just a quick note to record that a patriotic Cerulean Warbler was heard singing on July 4 in the protected zone of the ED-1 industrial development (Horizon Center) on Oak Ridge Reservation, Roane Co, TN. One was heard earlier in May and early June at the same location by several observers. We are hopeful--but without confirmation--that breeding has been successful this year. About two hundred yards away, on the shores of Bear Creek. on the edge of the same ED-1 protected zone a Louisiana Waterthrush was seen on July 3, as well as heard chipping and singing. Not an uncommon bird in someparts of the state, LA Waterthrushes are quite uncommon in Roane County, as clean, rushing streams are few and far between here. This species has been observed near this location in the past, but I don't recall records within the last 4 years.
