I had seen a pair "I thought" early in the spring but did not get a good enough look to confirm or get pictures. This morning on my way to the office I spotted a rather large white bird over patriot lake so I pulled in and got out my camera. It was to my surprise a pair of Caspian terns feeding on the lake. I got some really nice in flight photos, and some of them feeding. One of the things that threw me off on the ones I saw earlier in the year was that they were feeding by "skimming" the surface and eating minnows and all the books say they are "plungers" well I got some nice photos of them "skimming" minnows from the surface. I nearly made myself late to work I got so caught up in watching them, They are really gracefull flyers. The Goldfinches are still feeding heavily on the sunflowers at the senior garden as well. I have taken some great shots of them in the last couple of weeks!!
