Cocke County--
Rankin Wildlife Management Area (RWMA);
Dutch Bottoms
I had a little time this afternoon after work and decided to see what
was happening on upper Douglas Lake in Cocke County. A brief visit to
Dutch Bottoms (10 minutes) and RWMA (30 minutes) produced the following:
Double-crested Cormorant (13);
Great Blue Heron (5, RWMA);
Great Egret (20, RWMA);
Little Blue Heron (2 immatures, RWMA);
Green Heron (2, RWMA);
Wood Duck (RWMA);
Osprey (2, RWMA);
Pectoral Sandpiper (10 fly-by birds, RWMA; very little shorebird habitat
accessible without a boat);
Caspian Tern (RWMA);
Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2);
Eastern Wood-Pewee;
White-eyed Vireo.
