Cades Cove GSMNP Blount County Martha Rudolph and I spent the morning birding in Cades Cove on Sparks Lane and Hyatt Lane and recorded the following species: Number of species: 25 Canada Goose 10 Wood Duck 5 Mallard 5 Bufflehead 88 Wild Turkey 20 Turkey Vulture 1 Northern Harrier 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Red-bellied Woodpecker 1 Downy Woodpecker 4 Northern Flicker 2 American Crow 9 Carolina Chickadee 1 Tufted Titmouse 3 White-breasted Nuthatch 3 Eastern Bluebird 6 American Robin 85 Pine Warbler 1 Eastern Towhee 1 Song Sparrow 13 Swamp Sparrow 9 White-throated Sparrow 1 Dark-eyed Junco 30 Northern Cardinal 2 Eastern Meadowlark 4 It was cold(25-37) with snow flurries in the morning.
