[TN-Bird] Cades Cove today
We went to Cades Cove in search of the harriers or the Short-Eared Owls, but
struck out. The cloudy skies seemed to have all but the turkeys in hiding. We
saw four groups of about 20-25 turkeys each. In a field just past the mill
area, there were about 100 robins working the grass.
We saw a coyote that trotted in the road ahead of us for about a quarter mile,
allowing good looks and pictures. Also, on the outbound side near the Carter
Shields cabin, a very dark brown (melanistic?) deer was feeding far down in the
field.
