Cades Cove in Blount County portion of Great Smoky Mountains National Park
was pretty inactive with birds today. I had 28 species in my travels around
the loop drive with a Hermit thrush, 2 Red-shouldered hawks and 2 Northern
Harriers being highlights. The sewerage ponds held 17 Canada geese, 4
Mallards, 2 American blackducks, a pair of Hooded mergansers, a female Common
goldeneye and 72 Bufflehead.

A visitor report three River otters cavorting in Forge Creek behind the
visitor Center and Black bears were reported near the loop road entrance and
the
Primitive Baptist Church.
