This morning on Sparks Lane in Great Smoky Mountain National Park's Cades Cove (Blount County) I was fortunate to witness a Peregrine falcon playing in the gusting winds. I watched it for about 2 minutes before it was out of sight. It was cool, sunny but very windy so bird activity was pretty slow. Others species seen on the loop drive and at the sewerage pond (SP) included: Northern harrier - female Mallard - 21 (12 SP) Wood duck - 12 (10 SP) Canada goose - 10 SP Buflehead - 107 SP American pipit - 1 SP Eastern phoebe - 2 (1 SP) E. bluebird - 11 (2 SP) Wild turkey - 25 (24 SP) Crow - 34 (6 SP) Song sparrow - 16 Eastern meadowlark - 1 Carolina wren - 2 Carolina chickadee - 2 Tufted titmouse - 2 Tree swallow - 5 Blue jay - 3 Turkey vulture - 1 Warren Bielenberg Maryville <BR><BR><BR>**************************************<BR> AOL now offers free email to everyone.
