[TN-Bird] Cades Cove, GSMNP

On Saturday, 19 February 2005 eleven members of the Knoxville Chapter of the
Tennessee Ornithological Society made a trip to Cades Cove in the Great
Smoky Mountains National Park. We began at the ranger station and worked
our way passed the sewage treatment lagoons on to Sparks Lane. Thirty three
species were recorded as follows:
Bufflehead - 31
Wood Duck - 3
Canada Goose - 18
Mallard - 10
Redhead - 10
Red-shouldered Hawk - 1
Wild Turkey - 3
Kildeer - 4
Barred Owl - 1
Northern Flicker - 1
Downy Woodpecker - 3
Hairy Woodpecker - 2
Pileated Woodpecker - 1
Red-bellied Woodpecker - 2
Eastern Phoebe - 5
American Crow - 20+
Carolina Chickadee - 10
Eastern Tufted Titmouse - 7
Brown Creeper - 2
Red-breasted Nuthatch - 10
White-breasted Nuthatch - 5
Carolina Wren - 5
Golden-crowned Kinglet - 5
Eastern Bluebird - 8
American Robin - 50+
American Pipit - 2
European Starling - 10
Northern Cardinal - 1
Dark-eyed Junco - 1
Song Sparrow - 7
Red-winged Blackbird - 8
Eastern Meadowlark - 15+
Purple Finch - 1
