This afternoon I went to the Bark Camp Barrens sod farm in Coffee Co. hoping to see an Upland Sandpiper. Instead I found a single Buff-breasted Sandpiper. It was in the extreme southeast corner of the area where sod recently has been stripped, along with numerous Killdeer, and a few Pectoral and Least Sandpipers. The bird stayed in this general location for over three hours so was able to be seen also by Dale and Jeannie Swant, Ruth Luckadoo and Linda Myers. Also seen there was a Northern Harrier. On 8/16 an American Bittern was seen flying to a rush-lined pond on our farm in Warren Co., but we were unable to locate it after it landed. Susan McWhirter Rock Island, TN Warren Co.
