Back in about 1978/79 when I was working as a wildlife manager for TWRA, we
trapped and relocated some turkeys from Cocke County down along the French
Broad. Among the flock of 15 birds we captured were one or two "silver
phase" turkeys. The edges of the feathers looked normal, however the lower
2/3rds of the feathers were white.

I've got some 35mm slides of them around somewhere. Actually, I think Dad
(Bert Hale) has them.

I don't recall where we released the birds, perhaps in Hawkins County. Too
much water under the bridge.

What appeared to be an albino was seen 9 Jan 2003 in Shady Valley, Johnson
Co., TN by John and Lorrie Shumate. It was seen with a flock of 10 wild
birds. I don't think it was often seen.

Let's go birding. . . .
