TN birders,

Checked a few spots this am with a few first of year birds, as well as
a new county year bird. First checked the pond at Princeton Hills in
Cleveland, but the previously reported Osprey was not around. Flooded
backwaters of Candies Creek at the back of the subdivision produced 3
wood ducks, FOY for the county. The purple martin houses were not yet
occupied, but barn and northern rough-winged were present.

Next went to Owl Hollow Road which was not it's usual productive place,
but nearby Firetower Road produced 3 FOY for TN-blue gray gnatcatcher,
black and white warbler(silent), and Louisiana waterthrush, which
appeared to be setting up territory near the junction of Owl Hollow and
Firetower Roads.

Downtown was devoid of chimney swifts.

Did my am walk at Fletcher Park, where I added the following to my park
list(just beginning): Canada goose, turkey vulture, ruby-crowned
kinglet, cedar waxwing, field and white-throated sparrows, and American
goldfinch.
