Dr. Alsop's Ornithology class, anticipating the rainy forecast, decided to
move up the itinerary and go down to Bogota WMA in Dyer County to a field
we've had Short-eared Owls at dusk for 5 years in a row (ETSU takes this
trip every February).
A flock of 17 Cackling Geese came in to roost, and soon after, a Merlin
flew overhead. 2 minutes later, a Peregrine Falcon cut across the fields.
Right at dusk, 6 Short-eared Owls were seen by all 8 observers which is a
high number of owls for this trip.
I'll put this and the Brewer's Blackbirds we reported earlier on ebird
soon. I've been fighting signal all day.
