Ellington Ag Center
Davidson Co.
Richard Connors, Sarah Scott and I birded Ellington on Monday. No Oporornis
this time, but Richard heard and then spotted a male Blue Grosbeak in a large
tree just east of the big, white horse barn on the hill. I went back today
and had it in the same spot, and then a few minutes later in a tulip poplar by
the cemetery. This is a new bird for my list there. There are also two young
Red-tailed Hawks exercising their wings in the nest on the big transmission
tower in the field next to Edmondson Pike. We heard a third making begging
calls from out of the nest on Monday.

Red-tailed Hawk one adult and 3 young
Yellow-billed Cuckoo
Chimney Swift
Belted Kingfisher
Great Crested Flycatcher
Eastern Wood-Pewee
Purple Martin
Barn Swallow
House Wren
Eastern Bluebird
Red-eyed Vireo
White-eyed Vireo
Common Yellowthroat
Summer Tanager
Indigo Bunting
Blue Grosbeak
Field Sparrow
Eastern Towhee
Red-winged Blackbird
American Goldfinches on thistle!
