I went to Scott's Orchard this afternoon to get some late season peaches.
Since I was in the area, I went by Fowler Road Irrigation Pond to check on
water levels. We've had a good bit of rain this summer, so I didn't think the
farmer had needed to do much irrigation. I was correct. The pond was full and
no mud was exposed. Three Great Egrets and two Great Blue Herons were feeling
along the edges. Water was running into the pond through a concrete spillway on
the north side. Walking around on the spillway, to my surprise, was a
Black-necked Stilt. That was the only shorebird I saw.
