I quickly located 8 Black-bellied Whistling Ducks at the TVA ponds at the Allen
Steam Plant this morning. They were in the back of the first pond where the
Least Terns appear to be nesting. There were several pairs of Least Terns in
the one pond with one bird of each pair appearing to be incubating eggs.
Unfortunately that pond was being filled.

At Ensley (the Pits), I had one Dunlin in its striking breeding plumage, a few
semipalmated sandpipers and 23 White-rumped Sandpipers in one flock. There are
2 black-necked stilt nests in one pond at the pits as well.

I also had an adult male and a second year male (green) Painted Buntings around
the pits this morning as well.

Great birding!
