Stanley is correct in that Cornell is coming out with a new app like the
BirdLogNA. Cornell basically struck a deal with the designer of the
BirdLogNA app and they worked together to use the basic function/features
but make it an eBird app. On Wednesday, iOS users (Apple) could download
the new eBird mobile app to test it out. It was available for only 2
hours. I downloaded it and it looks a little different than the BirdLog
app (green vs. blue), but functions just about the same way. You still
can't add breeding codes, but it works a little smoother and is a nice
improvement. The Cornell folks wanted to get feedback for improvements
before a full launch. An android version is in the works.

You can now more easily pre-load checklists for when you're out of cell
coverage all day. Say you're going into a cell dead zone for the day, you
can start lists in advance for places you know you're going. It was a
little finicky before, but it is a tad easier now.

I don't know when the eBird mobile app will official launch, probably not
for a couple months. It'll still be free. Should have snagged it on
Wednesday :)

In the meantime, the BirdLogNA app works fairly well and syncs with eBird
just fine.

Cheers,
Scott Somershoe

Steve,

I have the app and love it. There are a few things you can't do right now
on it like breeding codes, sex-age info, etc. You can always update that
info later on the actual eBird site. It's my understanding that Cornell
University manages the app now and are planning new updates or versions to
make the app more capable.

Good afternoon. Can anyone share their experiences with this listing
app that allows direct in-field sightings submission to eBird?

Thanks,
Steve
