Lake Co, Tn.
Air Park Rd.
near Air Park Inn
Birding with dogs as companions does have its ups and down. I birded with
Scarlett for many years with no real problem, except when she was bit by a
Cottonmouth. But today, JJ, my Black Lab, and Buster the Chocolate lab,
flushed an American Bittern in the cut grass near the gate into the Air Park
Inn area and JJ came out with it in her mouth UGH!!....I heard the ruskus in
the grass just as she came out with it. She released it when I called to her.
It flew off and looked unharmed but probably was a bit shook up.

There was a lot of bird activity in the sunshine today. Lots of Robins. Had 16
Cedar Wax wings. Lots of common birds including Junco and White Throated and
field Sp. singing. There were Ring Necked Ducks on the Sewage lagoon. There is
a big brush pile where some clearing was done on the lake side North of me that
has several sparrow species. Hope it remains for the winter. Could be a great
place for birds this winter.
