Thrush week occurred during the last two weeks here in Normandy. One day we had
three, probably gray-cheeked (?) thrushes in the driveway, causing delay to
work (a welcomed reason, I'll add!)

Increase in woodpecker activity. Yesterday (10/10/05) we had a Downy Woodpecker
with such a an orangish-red wash on its throat, I had to do a double look to
assure myself it wasn't a yellow-bellied sapsucker. Has anyone else ever
noticed this on downies? I have never seen this "splash" on the throat before.

Yellow-bellied sapsuckers were around Oct 1st and earlier...
(as early as mid September)
Still have hummers (few)...
Chickadees and Carolina Wrens have increased their activity, too.
Palm Warblers last weekend were a treat. Lots of sparrow-like birds to entice
us into the fencerows as we drive to school, yet we have not been able to
indulge due to work....
