Following the recent passage of a fairly strong cold front, I was able to
identify 25 species on my property in Birchwood (Hamilton County) in two hours
and thirty-five minutes this morning. That might be the highest count I’ve ever
had when birding only on my own property AND when the only feeders that were
out were for hummingbirds. Seven warbler species were noted, and I saw two
other warblers so briefly that I couldn’t identify them. For the third day in a
row, at least one Swainson’s Thrush was noted. The list of warblers that were
seen and identified follow:
* Black-and-white Warbler – 2
* Hooded Warbler – 1
* American Redstart – 2
* Magnolia Warbler – 3
* Chestnut-sided Warbler – 1
* Black-throated Green Warbler – 1 (FOY)
* Canada Warbler – 1
