Standifer Gap Marsh, Chattanooga, Hamilton County, TN May 17, 2005, about 10:00 A.M., a very large white heron/egret flew in from the south, about 100-200 feet up, turned in a big half-circle and left to the south again. It appeared much larger than a Great Blue Heron and flew with a much slower wing beat. It was rather dingy rather than brilliant white as in a Great Egret, and it did not appear to have any black on legs or feet. I post this without any guess as to what it might have been; south of Miami I would call it a white morph of Great Blue Heron.
