Bubba Singleton and I walked along the shore of Radnor Lake this morning. At
about 7:30 am we spotted what appears to be a Bell's vireo (See the low-quality
photo attached) near the boat ramp at the western end of the lake (near the
spillway). It can be seen that the bird has yellow on its flanks; a white
throat and belly; a long, fairly prominent wing bar and a short, barely
discernable wing bar above it; broad, faint white eye rings; and a slender
tail. All of these traits are possessed by Bell's vireo. In addition, my
Merlin bird photo identifier called the bird in the attached photo a Bell's
vireo. I wish I had more photos. I realize that this bird, if confirmed as a
Bell's vireo, would be an unusual visitor to this area. I hope that some of my
colleagues, many of whom are much better experts than I, will provide advice
and opinions. Thanks much.
