June 17, 2009
TVA Lake, Shelby Co. TN

Robert Gooch called me today to say the pair of Black-bellied Whistling
Ducks have again been using the marsh north of Coro lake for the past two
days. I rode down and photographed them at noon and decided to go over to
Ensley for a quick check. At TVA Lake, I got a big surprise, 5 Black-bellied
plus 4 Fulvous Whistling Ducks resting together on the far silt flat. I got
photos of both species together. Tommie and Ron Rogers were passing through
and I directed them to TVA Lake and they found the 5 Black-bellied but had
SIX Fulvous. What if they both breed here this year??

Also at the "Pits" were 3 White-rumped Sandpipers and I again saw the
single male Spotted Sandpiper......
Good Birding !!!

What is this feathered thing that lifts my heart to the heavens.
