Stopped at Kingston Steam Plant briefly while traveling from Knoxville back to
Nashville this afternoon (7/31) and arrived just after a thunderstorm. Most of
the mud flats on the main pond were under water and I found no shorebirds.
However, walking back to the car by way of the upper ponds I observed a Baird's
sandpiper among 3 Least sandpipers. It was very active, but allowed good looks
from close range. The only other shorebird (excluding killdeer) was a Solitary
sandpiper.
