Another good morning on the ridge and finally feeling like fall with temperatures in the 40s. I had a shorter amount of time to spend this morning but still managed some nice birds including 8 warbler species in a very active wave of activity from about 07:20 to 07:45. Some highlights, all from the yard on Black Oak Ridge in west Knox Co on Tues, 29 Sept (except for the two at the end): - Ruby-throated Hummingbird, 3+, still in good numbers - Gray-cheeked Thrush, 1 spent most of the morning in the pokeberry bush giving great looks - Golden-winged Warbler, 1 female for 3rd consecutive day - Tennessee, 2+ - N Parula, 1 adult male - Blackburnian, 1 - Chestnut-sided, 2 - Magnolia, 6+ - Am Redstart, 4+ - BLACK-THROATED GREEN WARBLER, 1, my first of fall, soon the yellow-rumpeds will show up then it's all downhill from there - Summer Tanager, 1-2 - Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 2+ - BOBOLINK, at least 1 IDed by nocturnal flight call just before midnight on Mon (9/28) during a modest flight with a few thrushes and unIDable warbler-like chips ... which reminds me of one I haven't remembered to report yet - DICKCISSEL, 1 at dawn on 9/24 giving 2 of their very distinctive flight calls as it passed by.
