Some additional notes. Pellissippi State campus is approximately here...
Directions from I-40...
Take exit 376B on I-40 to Pellissippi Parkway (Hwy 162) north toward Oak
Ridge. After about 3 miles, take the Hardin Valley Road exit heading
west. Immediately after crossing under the highway, turn north onto
Solway Rd, the college is on your right.
School is in session, but parking is generally open to the public.
Security may get curious, but they are used to birders. Traffic here is
very heavy in the early morning between 8-9. The geese move around quite
a bit between PSCC campus, Melton Hill Lake, and surrounding farm land so
patience may be needed.
The bird was feeding in the grass around the pond with Canada Geese, a
Snow Goose, and a bazillion Muscovy.
I don't have Sloan and Somershoe handy, but there are only about 8 state
records listed in Robinson (published in 1990). Wait...
Just heard back from Chris and Scott. Last record in TN was 2005, then
1993 before that. 1983 is the latest listed in Robinson. So that should
be about 10 previous records in the state.
First record for Knox County.
Awesome find Terry!

Also a Snow Goose.
