Last night 2-27-10 a little after 6pm I observed for the first time this season
Woodcock displaying and peenting about in an old field behind my house.  This
is 6 years in a row that I have had Woodcock activity in late winter at my
house.  It is always intriguing to watch the males towering flight display
along with the twittering/chirrping as they dive bomb to the ground, then land
and start their peenting.  I could also hear at least 2 other males displaying
and calling in the distance.
