Nonconnah Bottoms

Yesterday I found a large female American Kestral and two young
Kestrals on and around the electrical towers behind a Pumping
Station in Memphis.

Coming south on Third Street, go past the I-240 expressway, look
for the two gravel roads, going east and west along the top of
the levee. There is no gate.

To find the mother American Kestral, go east down the levee past
the Pumping Station, go down a short gravel incline and duck
under the bridge. She was perched on the silver electrical tower
in the field on the other side.

The two fledglings were hunting along the levee, but west of
Third Street. Go back to Third St. and cross over. This is all
part of the Nonconnah Bottoms.

The Creek is very polluted. There are signs telling people
not to eat the fish there. Poor birds... I think its even a
Superfund site, so wash up when you leave.
