Mark Armstrong banded what he believes is an Allen’s Hummingbird this morning.
It’s a first year male and he says he is 90% sure on his ID. He will certainly
go confer with some of his colleagues as he did last year with the black
chinned.
The bird is at the home of Pat Phillips in Clinton which is Anderson County.
The bird has been present since Halloween. Pat had a rufous four years ago and
assumed this was another one. She said it was so different though she finally
got a hold of Mark to come verify what it was.
Pat lives at 612 Greenwood Dr. she does not want people calling first. She
works at home and says all visitors are welcome. Park in her driveway or in
the street. Go behind the house and knock on the door on the first floor.
Bird feeders everywhere. And lawn chairs to sit in
You cannot see the hummingbird from the road. Please wear a mask but she will
probably tell you that you do not need it.
Since EBird is down no markers for the spot until it goes live again.
I’ll advertise se as soon as we here anything on a positive ID.
