[TN-Bird] A week of eBird in TN

I was curious just how much eBird participation we are getting in
Tennessee on a statewide basis, so I used the data exploration tools
to generate a summary of the data submitted for the first week of
this month (April 1-7, 2011). I was very surprised and pleased by
what I found. For just these seven dates, a total of 142 checklists
have been submitted, covering 137 species. The busiest day was
Sunday 4/3 with 33 checklists and 118 species. Note that these are
the dates that the checklists cover, not the dates they were
submitted. So they do not include older data, such as the MTOS'
ongoing project to enter all their archived field notes dating back
to the 1920s (and hooray for this!). Nor does it include data from
people who sometimes fall a bit behind and don't enter their
checklists right away (such as me, frequently...). Some of the more
noteworthy reports include Mute Swan, 11 species of warblers
(includes Blue-winged, Ovenbird, and Hooded) and 10 species of
sparrows including LeConte's.

West TN birders take note -- these totals include only one single
checklist from west of the Tennessee River, and ZERO from the Memphis
area!
