This strong wind today has brought us a few new birds for the season. A mature male and female Summer Tanager, a brilliant Indigo Bunting male in breeding plumage, which we hope is the same one that has been here for several years, as well as either the same mature male Rose-breasted Grosbeak or a new one after not seeing this bird in the yard yesterday. A couple of Tree Swallows had a tussle in the air over the yard and then proceeded northeast and about twenty Bluejays passed over also. The male Orchard Oriole decided to sing from his lofty perch and we heard Wood Thrushes down the hill for the first time this year. If warblers came through we missed them with all the leaves and limbs moving in the trees. The fifteen or twenty hummingbirds seemed perplexed all morning as they fought to drink from the sugar water feeders.
