Betty Reid has a broken foot and I had a big-toe nail removed so our recent
birding has been limited mostly to our deck for several weeks. Today, May 3,
2007, we birded from our deck in Oak Ridge near Melton Hill Lake from 8:45
to 2:15 and saw or heard 51 species. The best ones were:

Wood Duck
Osprey
Red-shouldered Hawk
Red-tailed Hawk
House Wren
WARBLING VIREO- 2nd ever for our yard. Heard it first and then finally saw
it
Magnolia Warbler
Cape May Warbler
Northern Waterthrush
Scarlet Tanager
Rose-breasted Grosbeak
Indigo Bunting
White-throated Sparrow - probably the last one of the season
Orchard Oriole
Baltimore Oriole

We never had any waves but kept getting individual birds after bird and
couldn't quit. We have 145 species in or from our yard in the 14 years we
have lived here.

Jim and Betty Reid Campbell
Oak Ridge, Tn (Anderson County)
