2004 ANNUAL FALL MEETING AND SYMPOSIUM
October 8-10 at Cookeville
Join the TOS for the Fall Meeting and Symposium, October 8-10, 2004, at
Cookeville. This will be the first time in many years that the TOS has met in
Cookeville.
Attendees will gather Friday evening for an informal reception and to sign up
for field trips. The Saturday agenda consists of morning field trips, a short
business meeting, and the annual symposium in which presenters from across the
state describe their recent bird studies. There will be no evening banquet or
dinner meeting. More field trips will be held Sunday morning.
Headquarters and Lodging: The meeting will be held at the Baymont Inn at 1151
S. Jefferson Avenue in Cookeville. This is just south of I-40 Exit 287. A block
of rooms has been reserved at the special rate of $62.00. To receive this rate,
make your reservation by September 30 by calling the Inn at (931) 525-6668 or
request reservations by emailing karlacookeville@xxxxxxxxxx In either case,
please mention TOS. Nonsmoking rooms have been requested, but smoking rooms are
available. Reservations can be cancelled up to the day of arrival.
There are many other hotels in the area.
Registration: $5.00 at the door Friday night.
Symposium: The paper session, consisting of a series of presentations
describing recently completed and ongoing studies of Tennessee birds, will be
held Saturday afternoon.

Friday, October 8
Registration, informal reception, field trip sign-up
Saturday, October 9
7:30 AM - Field trips depart from hotel. Destinations:
1. Cane Creek Park with a extension to Ensor Sink Natural Area
(time permitting).
2. City Lake Natural Area.
3. Heritage Marsh. Note: This area is private property and the field
trip is limited to 10 participants.
Lunch on your own
1:30 - 4:00 PM - Symposium in hotel meeting room.
4:30 PM - Board of Directors Meeting in hotel meeting room.
7:00 PM - Program on "The Return of the Osprey to Tennessee" by Ken Dubke
in hotel meeting room.
Sunday, October 10
7:30 AM - Field trips depart from hotel. Destinations:
1. Burgess Falls State Natural Area.
2. Ensor Sink Natural Area and Walnut Park
12:00 noon - Field trips end, bird on your own or depart for home
